Our resident writer Girl Inside Ibiza had a bit of a wild one last summer………..she rocked her flip-flops off at pretty much every event worth going to and was spotted scanning the dancefloor before rushing back to HQ to deliver her reviews, then straight back out to the next party…(it´s what some people might call the Ibiza Diet).
Here´s a few snippets to wet your appetite before we hit Summer 2012……..
26-06-2011 – Sex, glamour, body glitter, techno, Madonna tributes, pool parties, bongo drums, fireworks, rising temperatures, drag queens and feather boas.
These are the first words that come to mind when summing up the sights, events and fiestas from Ibiza this week.
First stop was Supermartxe at Privilege, where resident Juanjo Martin and Nalaya were amongst the Madrid-based performance team welcomed back to Ibiza with open arms – and many, many hot sweaty bodies.
Matinee opening at Amnesia was next on June 18. Metallic-clad robots and pulsating vibrations rocked through the packed nightclub well into the next morning, and it was also the night that this Girl bumped into the Tremblay pro-handball team from Paris….. and proceeded to be their ‘tour guide’ for the rest of the weekend.
Well… 10 hot muscular French boys at your disposal can’t be a bad thing.
La Plage for the Matinee after-party on Sunday afternoon, then it was on to Benirras in the north of the island for bongo drums, fire-dancing and a beautiful sunset.
We had to work for a couple of days – although we squeezed in the Kubicle pool party at Es Vive – but we managed to make La Troya’s jaw-dropping ‘Alterne’ night of wild sexual escapades at Amnesia on Wednesday night. The opening party the previous week was completely tame by comparison, but needless to say, it was an EXTREMELY intimate event…..
Thursday we headed to Sankeys for the official opening of Monza, and we didn’t want it to end. Paco Osuna and Nima Gorji took the crowd on a musical jouney through magical techno. Sankeys is a great venue for Monza– it’s the right size, it has great sound, drinks are not overpriced, and Monza always brings together great people to make a great atmosphere.
Saturday night (June 25) and we spent the night at Space for the glamorous Café Ole – and this week’s ‘Back to Disco’ night was nothing short of fabulous. In the discoteca, stunning dancers dusted head to toe in silver relaxed on stage on rotating moons; power suited, big haired, guitar wielding girls did a ‘Vogue’ tribute that Madonna would have been proud of, and live acts from Patrizze and Miss Davilota culminated in a night of disco classics meets current house, with a twist of sparkle and a naughty edge.
We can’t wait for next week……
………and then next week came…………..
Everything at Café Ole screams sex, glamour and naughtiness – but with a show that’s sensual and absolutely stunning.
Every Saturday night, Space is turned into a hot-bed (literally) of leather-clad, often sparkly, beautifully sculpted dancers and with a weekly changing-theme, this can mean said dancers posing in rotating moons one week, and trying to escape from double-tier cages the next.
For this week, the theme ‘Pervert’ transported us into a darker world of peep shows, more flesh on show, and Miss Davilota doing a ‘throatier’ performance dressed in a body suit with shock-giving wires coming out of all major organs and orifices.
Polisexual house tunes and a few disco classics with a twist were played by guest djs Antoine Clamaran, Luque, Plastic Funk and Aleksia, and the night climaxed in a tribute to the sad death of Amy Winehouse with ‘Rehab’- she just wouldn’t go.
As long-legged trannies and hot-muscled boys tottered and bounced their way out of Space, you could see that risqué theme was still on the minds of more than a few of the clubbers. Now where did I put my whip…………
19-07-2011 – Dubfire plays Carl Cox´s birthday bash number one
Dubfire never ceases to amaze me – but often leaves me searching for the right words.
American/Iranian DJ and producer Ali Shirazinia really looks like he’s massaging the decks when he’s up there. Every touch is with precision and every track he plays has been chosen with such careful refine to ensure that his audience enjoy every single second of his performance. And it is a performance – even down to the little subtle shimmy he does on stage.
Playing for Carl Cox last Tuesday – it was part of the big man’s birthday celebrations – Dubfire sprinked Space with a fine dust of happiness as he gathered everyone in the packed nightclub into his magical hands and then blew them away.
A mix of techno/classic house and contemporary tracks, as usual, Dubfire lifted the crowd at the right moments, timed the beats to kick in beautifully and simply shone as he worked his magic.
On to Carl Cox´s second party – was that really Barbara Tucker singing ‘Happy Birthday’??….we think it might just have been….
Carl’s beach side sets at Sands are always a funky affair, and he didn’t let his guests down with an array of old-school classics mixed with contemporary summer tracks.
It was a nice party with nice people, and a British film crew turned up to capture the ‘real’ Ibiza – apparently their mission was to speak to as many people as possible, look past the clubs and the places that everybody knows, and just film what they found – and they found a lot of chilled, happy people enjoying themselves, not giving a flying saucer about anything else.
Another birthday bash the same week was the 12th anniversary of Matinee at Amnesia. It´s not unusual to be greeted at a birthday party with a cake…..but how often do you find someone wearing it? Especially a dancer on stage sporting a spectacular and sexy pink number, surrounded by…..can you call hot, oily men ‘candles’???!!!
An electric atmosphere and throbbing house at its best, this party was the cheekiest icing you could ask for, and although we didn’t make it to La Plage for the after-party (some of us have to work you know!) we were told it was great fun. But messy.
Well you only have one birthday a year……
